10 Inch Table Saw Blade (250mm): 60T vs 80T vs 100T for Woodworking

The 10 inch table saw blade (250/254 mm) is the heart of the woodworking shop. The diameter is fixed — but tooth count changes everything: ripping wants fewer teeth, fine crosscutting wants more. This guide matches 60T/80T/100T/120T blades to the job.

Tooth Count Guide

TeethCut styleBest for
60TFast general-purposeRipping + crosscutting solid wood, sheet goods
80TFinePlywood, veneered panels, cabinetry
100TExtra fineMelamine, laminate, visible miters
120TUltra fineDelicate veneers, flawless crosscuts

Specifications (250 mm)

  • Body: 1.2–1.5 mm; kerf: 1.6–2.0 mm
  • Bore: 20/25.4 mm (check your saw's arbor)
  • ATB tooth geometry for scissor-like shearing of wood fibers
  • Silencing/anti-vibration slots for stable, warp-free running

Why Tooth Count Matters

Each tooth takes a smaller bite as count rises: more teeth = smoother finish but slower feed and more heat. On a table saw, burning and tear-out both cost money — so shops keep at least two blades: a 60T combination blade and an 80–100T finishing blade.

Usage Tips

  1. Never force feed rate — a packed gullet overheats and burns wood.
  2. Use a zero-clearance insert with high-tooth blades for chip-free bottoms.
  3. Clean pitch and resin off teeth regularly; dirty teeth act dull.

FAQ

One blade for everything — which?

A 60T combination blade. It rips acceptably and crosscuts cleanly enough for most furniture work.

Is 250 mm the same as 10 inch?

10" = 254 mm. Both 250 and 254 mm blades mount on standard 10" table saws with matching bore.

Can a 10 inch wood blade cut laminate flooring?

Yes — with 100T+ and the decorative face down. For daily laminate work consider a TCG non-ferrous blade for longer edge life.
